ALEX just turned two on August 8. Poor guy is a mess! His gait is still really loose, so he is always falling down, tripping, bumping into things and bruised and battered. Mike thinks his giant feet may throw him off a bit too. Alex's new pasttime is delivering a running head-butt. He will do almost anything to make his brother and sister laugh, whether it's falling on his head, or telling knock knock jokes, or the old classic, calling strangers, family and friends "poopy head". We call Alex "Houdini" because of his uncanny ability to open any kind of "baby-proofing" device. Early each morning, he clambers over the baby gate and runs in to our room chirping "Good Morning! Time to get up!"
QUINN started preschool - while he likes school so far, he still gets upset during the day because "he misses Mommy". Mike is convinced that he is going to be a rock star or a pro athlete because he's already referring to himself in the third person ("Quinn doesn't like that." "Quinn wants some pizza.") Mike calls our sun room the "computer lab" now that Quinn and Elena are on both computers at the same time. Quinn is discovering the wonders of WebKinz and he and Elena often invite each other's pets over to their online "houses".
ELENA boards the bus for Kindergarten a couple days a week. So far, so good! Elena is a terrific kid but has lately harbored a mean streak that has manifested itself in the battering of her brothers. While we definitely don't condone the pushing and smacking, etc., we figure it's only a matter of time before they figure out they can band together against her or that they'll simply outgrow her and exact revenge. She liked playing soccer in August, and is now excited about her swim and gymnastics lessons.
