ELENA is really enjoying gymnastics at the Y--she is doing the bars, vault, and balance beam so far. Elena also had he stage debut in the Christmas pageant at church. She was the youngest one with a speaking part and had the most lines to remember. She did a great job as the North Star and got to wear a headphone microphone so she looked like a pop star. She did get a bit bored by the end of the program and executed a huge yawn complete with arms outstretched before delivering her final lines. Kindergarten is going well so far - she is actually asking if we can sit down and do "homework"! The art room (our fourth bedroom) is a popular destination for Elena and she's been creating books, puppets, collages, drawings, and costumes for her brothers.
QUINN was very pleased with his Superman costume for Halloween--he was very much the "action hero". Quinn is also in gymnastics and has learned a lot of tumbling, balance and strength skills. He is slowly but surely becoming more confident doing things like school and classes on his own. He's been very helpful around the house, setting the table, wiping the counters, putting clothes away, etc. Quinn is also taking charge of his "look" - he picks out his own outfits and is vocal about his hair. At his last haircut the stylist put a little gel in his hair and he flipped out until she changed it back to the way he likes it.
ALEX dressed up as Bob the Builder for Halloween - it was up to the last second as to whether he would actually wear the costume or not, but he ended up having fun. Alex wants to do everything by himself now - he can put shoes and clothes on alone and is working on his coat. Potty training is up next! He's adding a lot more quotes to the Quote Board these days and has a definite comedic flair. He also is starting to enjoy art and drawing like his brother and sister. We're a lot more careful when he comes near us as head butting is his latest passion. And his head is huge.
